Combatting Human Trafficking Group My Freedom Day - CNN Interview

A student from the Combatting Human Trafficking service group, along with two students from other international schools, was interviewed by CNN about the global My Freedom Day project. The club works with and donates to an NPO called Lighthouse which helps victims of trafficking in Japan seek help and go from victims to survivors. With the topic being a taboo subject in Japan, it makes it harder for victims to seek help. By spreading awareness starting with the YIS community, the club aims to help make people more knowledgeable on the subject as a very small but important stepping stone to eradicate human trafficking.

HOPE Cambodia 2020 for YIS

In February 2020, the students from the HOPE Cambodia Service Club visited an area near Krong Pursat to help the community with building its infrastructure. We are proud to say that our relationship with HOPE Cambodia goes back over 10 years thanks to the students, staff and parents of YIS. Thank you to Guru and the rest of the students for creating this video of the trip.

ES Action Portfolios

Elementary School Action Portfolios are open classes for students' specialist classes, such as music, PE, drama and art, that take place for one week. Parents are able to participate in the classes with their children to understand and appreciate what students do in class. And parents have a chance to act like students again.

Students from Gr. 3 - 5 challenge themselves in a friendly cross-country race in Negishi Park, encouraging each other to do their best, while also enjoying the beauty nature has to offer.

Tokyo Pride Parade 2019

The YIS LGBTQ+ Club and Amnesty International were joined by other international school to form a group of 100 proud and dedicated individuals marching for equal rights and recognition alongside 11,000 others from around Japan and the world.

Grade 4 Jogashima Field Trip

Students in Gr. 4 spent a day exploring the geology and history of Jogashima, just west of Yokohama, with experts in the field. The ICJC facilitates opportunities like this to enhance the connection between YIS students and local history, culture and community.
