Gr. 5 Mars Landing Day Activities
Gr. 5 students inquired into the mission of the Mars Perseverance lander this week to coincide with the landing of the capsule/rover. In addition to creating galactic muffins with Mars and Milky Way chocolate bars, asteroid sprinkles and space-green icing, they also tried their hand at programming their own rovers and building cardboard rovers, inquired into the scale of our galaxy on the playground and participated in astronaut physical training. Video conferences with the NASA designer in charge of the landing parachute to be used by the lander, a JAXA education liaison and a NASA scientist on the mission team fanned their sense of curiosity and exploration.
